
In a horrifying event in Karnataka’s Yadgir district, a married 23-year-old lady was burned alive for refusing a rape attempt, and police have opened an investigation.
On Monday morning, the event occurred in a village near Shahapur town, and the woman, named Balamma, died in the Kalburgi hospital from her injuries. Gangeppa, a resident of Chowdeshwarihala village, has been recognized as the culprit.
Surapura police have filed a case after recording the victim’s statement in the hospital before she died, and have formed special teams to apprehend the suspect who is still absconding.
Gangeppa had his eye on Balamma for a long time, according to police, and compelled her to have an affair. When her husband had gone out, he barged into her house early in the morning and attempted to rape the victim while she was sleeping.
He assaulted her, poured fuel on her, then lit her on fire when she protested. According to accounts, neighbours raced to the scene, quenched the flames, and transported her to the hospital. with him on several occasions. He had even assaulted her when she refused.
