Why Worlds Student Day Is Celebrated On Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary ?

The UN had declared Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam birthday as the World Students’ Day to honour his hard work, dedication, and determination that comprised his remarkable life . He was first and foremost an ideal teacher who believed that teachers are builders of society , and students are the future .

October 15 which is celebrated as Worlds Student day and also the birth anniversary of former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam . It had been celebrated all over the world in honour of him since 2010 . Abdul Kalam is remembered as the People’s President and he is not just limited to his role as a scientist in developing the nation’s military missiles, which gave him the nickname “Missile Man of India”. The Bharat Ratna recipient is also popular for his role as a teacher and continues to do so until his last breathe .

Hailing from Rameshwaram , Tamil Nadu Dr. Kalam turned out to be an inspiration and a role model for every generation . He was a visionary and a great leader who always inspired the students . Hence , the former presidents birthday is celebrated as Worlds Students Day all over the world .

Abdul Kalam always believed that youngsters are the key to the nation’s building. For this reason, Kalam dedicated many days during his tenure as the President of India to interact with the students. Kalam’s book ‘Ignited Minds’ speaks about his experiences and interactions with students during his tenure.

Dr Kalam was conferred with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, in 1997. He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1981 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1990. APJ Abdul Kalam served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
