Welcome Home Champions: India Celebrates the Arrival of its Champions Back Home

India’s Olympics stars are back home making the entire nation proud. The Champions arrived yesterday at the national capital.

The entire nation was gripped under the influence of Corona for the last one and a half years. The disruption caused by the pandemic was devastating, it broke and shattered every individual emotionally, economically, and physically. There was fear and worry all around, in one word people lost happiness.

Nevertheless the champions of the country made the Indians smile again. They came out of fear and celebrated the victory of the nation. The victory of our champions brought confidence among the citizens that we can fight the enemy despite how strong it is. It gave the people hope once again that we will win.

The Indians gave a grand welcome to the Olympic champions who arrived yesterday at the national capital. People gathered at the airport to welcome the players, shouting slogans “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. People were seen singing, dancing, beating drums, etc, to express their joy.

 The winners were felicitated at Ashok Hotel Delhi by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and former Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju among others.

Neeraj Chopra, Lovlina Borgohain, Bajrang Punia, the men’s and women’s hockey teams among others were in attendance as the felicitation ceremony for India’s Olympic medalists was completed in New Delhi. The citizens of India came out in huge numbers to cheer for their victory.

Such a grand welcome and the enthusiasm among the people was earlier seen when the Cricket team used to win tournaments for the country. But this time the performance of the Indian players in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 made the entire nation proud.

India won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics 2020

1. Mirabai Chanu, Silver, 49 kg weightlifting  

2. PV Sindhu, Bronze, Badminton Women’s Singles.  

3. Lovlina Borgohain, Bronze, Women’s welterweight·Boxin.   

4. Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Silver, men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling

 5.The Indian men’s hockey team, Bronze

 6. Bajrang Punia, Bronze,  Men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling

  7.Neeraj Chopra, Gold, Javelin Throw

In the felicitation ceremony the golden boy who won gold for the country Neeraj Chopra said the day he achieved the victory and won gold for his country, he was neither able to sleep nor eat properly but whenever he takes out the gold medal and see, he gets unexplainable energy. He further said that the support from his family made him come so far to achieve his dreams.

Lovlina Borgohain the silver medal winner from Assam expressed her feeling of joy and the warm welcome she received after her arrival. She said that she would further work harder and bring more medals for the country.

Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya also thanked the entire nation for supporting them. The men’s hockey team also thanked their country people and family for supporting them throughout.

The Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and former Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated all the winners and even those who participated and cannot win. Anurag Thakur said though the champions won the medals in Tokyo it made every Indian hearts fill with pride in the whole world. “Neeraj Ji you not only won the medal for India in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 but won the heart of every Indian and became an inspiration for generations to come”, he added.
