The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent a notice to the Delhi Police in response to online threats made against Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli’s family, including his nine-month-old daughter. The women’s body issued a notification to the Delhi Police, describing the situation as a “major concern” that requires “urgent response.”
Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Women Body, stated in a tweet today that the way the 9-month-old was threatened on Twitter was “extremely shameful,” and she urged the Delhi police to release information on the police investigation in the issue.
“Why this silliness in defeat when the team has made us proud thousands of times?” Ms. Maliwal asked.
The Delhi Women’s Panel has requested a copy of the FIR, as well as information on the accused who have been identified and arrested, as well as a full “action taken report” on the case.
“If no accused has been arrested,” the notification states, “please provide specifics of efforts done by Delhi Police to arrest the accused.”
