Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra stated that if fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s controversial new mangalsutra collection advertisement is not withdrawn within 24 hours, he will take legal action against the designer.
Mishra tweeted on Sunday, “Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s mangalsutra commercial is really disrespectful and painful.” “Legal action will be taken against him if the offending advertisement is not removed within 24 hours.”
He claims that Mangalsutra is a pure thread that aids in the pure bond of two people in a married partnership. It combines Maa Parvati’s and Lord Shiva’s blessings for a happy life. This advertisement is insulting to Indian culture.
Models wearing the mangalsutra while posing alone or in intimate positions with others have been heavily criticized in the advertising photograph for the new collection.
The 18k gold mangalsutra is embellished with black onyx and pearls. It is priced at Rs 1,65,000 (about $1,650).
According to reports, the BJP’s legal counsel filed a notice to the fashion designer on Saturday over his depiction of the Mangalsutra in the ad campaign.
The notice added, “I remark that in your promotional social media posts displaying models posing alone or in close quarters with others.” The notice stated, “A female model wearing a black brassiere and Sabyasachi’s mangalsutra as her head rests on a shirtless male model is absolutely absurd to the entire Hindu community as well as Hindu Marriage.”
