On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with S C Jamir, the former chief minister of Nagaland and a veteran Congress leader, and praised him as a renowned statesman. “It was an honor to meet Shri SC Jamir, Nagaland’s former Chief Minister, and a revered statesman.” We discussed a number of topics. After meeting the 90-year-old Jamir, Modi tweeted the prime minister has frequently praised Jamir’s accomplishments, and in 2020, his administration awarded him the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor.
