Two vehicles crashed in the early hours of Wednesday near Meghalaya’s Umroi Bypass, killing one person and badly injuring another.
According to police, a vehicle (AS 11 G 7819) travelling from Silchar to Guwahati collided head-on with a truck (NL 01AA 9137) travelling in the opposite direction at Umtyrnah on the Umroi bypass, killing the driver of the Silchar vehicle and seriously injuring the unidentified occupant who was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital.
Azaz Ahsan Rahmani of Badarpur, Karimganj, Assam has been identified as the deceased driver. The deceased was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
