“My State Minister’s don’t understand Hindi and some of them don’t even know English”; Mizoram Chief Minister
Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga wrote to Home Minister Amit Shah pleading with him to change the centre’s order and appoint a Mizo Chief Secretary because the state ministers don’t understand Hindi and some of them don’t even know English.
In place of Renu Sharma, the Chief Minister has proposed that Additional Chief Secretary JC Ramthanga be named the next Chief Secretary.
“I asked my current Additional Chief Secretary JC Ramthanga (Manipur Cadre) to be the next Chief Secretary when my Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaugo of Gujarat Cadre retired. Mrs. Renu Sharma, however, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary by the Home Ministry.
The Mizoram government also ordered JC Ramthanga to take over as chief secretary on November 1, making Mizoram the first state in the country to have two chief secretaries.
“The Mizo people, for the most part, do not comprehend Hindi, and none of my Cabinet Ministers do either; some of them even struggle with English. With such a background, a Chief Secretary who does not understand a functioning standard Mizo language would never be effective or efficient “In his letter, the Chief Minister stated.
He goes on to say that he has been a “loyal partner of the NDA from the beginning” and that he hopes his plea would be considered.
“I am the only member of the Northeast States who has been a consistent supporter of NDA since its inception. As a result, I believe I am deserving of special consideration and regard for my long-standing friendship with NDA… Given these facts and circumstances, if the Chief Secretary’s suggestion, which was given to my predecessor, the Congress Chief Minister, is refused to me, the Congress party and the other Opposition Parties will scorn me for honestly serving the NDA alliance. As a result, I respectfully beg that you amend the ruling and accept my proposal “Mr. Zoramthanga expressed his thoughts.
