A mother and her child were successfully rescued from kidnappers in Assam’s Dhubri district by police teams from Meghalaya and Assam in a joint operation, authorities said on Sunday. On Saturday, police also detained one of the kidnappers, Moni Zaman, 23, of Dhubri. Last month, the woman and her 1-and-a-half-year-old child were abducted from Rongkon Bazar.

The victims were transferred to Assam’s Dhubri district and confined at a location known as Beltuli, which is a part of Bilasipara Police Station, according to information the police discovered during their investigation. Court proceedings are being sent for the accused.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly threatened the girl and her family members on a regular basis.
