Lakhimpur Kheri: Teenage Girl Gang-Raped, Killed; Elder Sister and 7 Arrested

According to police, on June 29, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by four men and strangled to death in the presence of and with the help of her older sister in the Lakhimpur Kheri region of Uttar Pradesh.
According to Superintendent of Police of Lakhimpur Kheri district Sanjiv Suman, the police have detained seven people: the four males who are accused of sexually assaulting the girl in a sugar cane field, the girl’s older sister, and two other men who kept watch while the crime was being committed. The accused are between the ages of 18 and 19.
The sisters frequently argued when the younger one just learned of the elder one’s multiple relationships with the four men and opposed to them, according to the police.
A scarf was then used to choke the young girl to death. Later that day, the police said that some locals found her body. The suspects, according to the SP, confessed to their involvement in the crime and described the sequence of events while being questioned.
