Meanwhile, it is also reported that travel agent Ajghar is arrested by Mumbai Police Crime Branch.
It was said that on 13 September the travel agent booked the ticket for Jan Mohammed one of the arrested terrorists for Mumbai to Delhi. However, the Mumbai crime branch has been interrogating Ajghar, reports are still awaited.
Jan Mohammed Sheikh’s name had come up after the arrest of Fazlu Rehman Khan alias Mujju last year by the Anti Extortion Cell of the Mumbai Crime branch. Khan was the close aide of Faheem Machmach — a deceased gangster and henchman of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
Fazlu Rehman Khan and two others were arrested when they had planned to eliminate a South Mumbai businessman for Anees Ibrahim, brother of Dawood Ibrahim, on the instructions of Faheem Machmach. Two pistols and live cartridges were then recovered from them.
Jan Mohammed was also suspected of supplying arms and ammunition for the gang’s activities but maintained a low profile since Fazli Rehman alias Mujju’s arrest last year in November.
Jan Mohammed’s family members were questioned last evening by Mumbai police officials at the Dharavi police station. Sources said the relatives denied knowing anything about Jan Mohammed’s role in terror-related activities.
