India has the potential to become the world’s fashion capital, according to textiles minister Piyush Goyal, by leveraging its rapidly increasing fashion industry, commerce, and industry. On Friday, the minister spoke at the National Institute of Fashion Technology’s (NIFT) graduation ceremony in Delhi.
Minister also encouraged NIFT students and alumni to consider giving back to society by linking the country’s weavers and artisans to the market.
He asked students and NIFT alumni to take on the task of replacing all other regions of the world in the next five years and bringing fashion capital to India.
“NIFT students have the ability to bring our rich textile, design, and embroidery legacy to a global audience.” India has the potential to become the world’s fashion capital. He noted that NIFT can foster unique concepts for Indian fabrics and textiles.
