On Friday, a grenade exploded at the residence of a National People’s Party (NPP) politician in Thoubal district Manipur. According to police sources, Ukhongsang’s Ningthoujam Diten will run for Heirok Assembly in Thoubal district, which is within the authority of Nongpok Sekmai police station.
Around 6.45 p.m., a hand grenade was thrown towards Diten’s home. There were no injuries reported.
The incident occurred while Ningthoujam Diten was attending an electoral meeting in his constituency, according to reports.
While police have opened an investigation into the incident, an operation has been begun to apprehend the perpetrators.
