The Meghalaya State Veterinary, Dairy, and Fisheries Science University would be established in Kyrdem Kulai in Ri Bhoi, according to the State Cabinet.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Friday that they have directed the concerned department to bring back the university’s draught bill and hash out all the details, and that they have also sought the financial ramifications of the decision.
“Once the document is in the Cabinet, we will provide our approval,” he stated.
According to him, the institution will be established in Kyrdem Kulai, because the Animal and Husbandry Department has at least 800 acres of land in the area.
The Cabinet has also reviewed the idea for the establishment of a National Law School in the state, according to the deputy chief minister.
“The proposal was returned because the final document for the establishment of the National Law School needs to be fine-tuned,” the deputy chief minister explained.
