Germany hits record of 50,000 new covid cases in just 24 hours

According to local officials cited by news agency AGP, Germany has seen a record 50,000 new Covid cases in 24 hours.
It’s the first time Germany has surpassed 50,000 cases since the outbreak began, and it comes as infection and death rates have risen sharply in recent days.
Several of the hardest-hit states, including Saxony, Bavaria, and, most recently, Berlin, have imposed new restrictions targeting non-vaccinated people, who were the first to be affected and are at greater risk.
Since the start of the epidemic, the virus has infected about 4.9 million people. Meanwhile, unvaccinated people will be prohibited from entering public locations, according to reports.
