G20 Summit : PM Modi interacts with President Biden and other world leaders .

On Saturday PM Narendra Modi attended G20 Summit in Italy’s Rome . As the leaders of the world’s twenty major economies met for the first time in person since the Covid-19 pandemic, the agenda consisted of climate change, economic recovery, the pandemic and the global minimum corporate tax rate.

In a series of photos tweeted by PMO India , prime Minister Modi is seen meeting Biden , French President Emanuel Macron , UK prime minister Boris Johnson and Canadian Prime minister Justin Trudeau .

In the pictures, Modi is seen walking with Biden sharing views , Biden hosted Modi at the white house on September 24 for the first in person meeting . In other photos , Modi was seen embracing Macron and engaged in an animated discussion with Trudeau and Johnson .

The Office of Prime Minister Modi tweeted on Saturday evening to state that PM Modi had had ‘fruitful’ discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and Singapore’s PM Lee Hsien Loong.

“Productive discussions between PM Modi and President Macron on the sidelines of the G20 summit. India and France are cooperating extensively in various sectors. Today’s talks will add momentum to the bilateral ties between the two nations,” the Office of the Prime Minister of India tweeted.

The opening session on Saturday focused on global health and the economy, with a meeting on the sidelines between US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss Iran’s nuclear program.

Italian PM Mario Draghi called for greater efforts to provide vaccines to the world’s poorer countries. He underlined that while 70 per cent of people in rich countries have been vaccinated, only 3 per cent in the poorest countries have had their shots .
