Four teenagers drowned in River Brahmaputra; three bodies recovered, the fourth is still missing.

On Sunday, four boys drowned near Pandu Ghat in Guwahati in the Brahmaputra river.

According to the authorities, the 14-15-year-old guys went for a swim in the river on their way home from tuition courses.

Dayal Sheikh, Jit Das, Deep Sarkar, and Abinash Das have been identified as the four youths. They were X-class pupils.

There were four boys in all, the officer said. Three bodies were recovered and a search is on for the fourth boy, the officer said.

The boys had shot pictures and videos on their mobile phones at the ghat before getting down. They had kept their belongings at the ghat, “the officer said.

According to the officer, the retrieved bodies will be subjected to a post-mortem, although preliminary findings indicate drowning.

The bodies of Dayal, Jit, and Deep were discovered on Sunday, according to RK Hazarika, officer in charge of Pandu river police. “Teams from the SDRF and river police conducted a rescue operation. Due to the darkness, the search has been called off. On Monday morning, the search for the missing kid will restart. On the riverbank, police discovered school bags, their clothes, and their cellphones,” he continued.

However, the whereabouts of the fourth guy Abinash Das is yet to be recovered.
