Congress condemns AAP Gujarat chief Gopal Italia’s comment on the mother of PM Modi
The president of the state unit has come under fire ahead of the state’s upcoming assembly elections as the Aam Aadmi Party seeks to broaden its support base there amid active campaigning and regular visits from top officials. Gopal Italia has been charged with making casteist remarks and directing them at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother Hira Ba. Gopal Italia was briefly held in Delhi last week when AAP members demonstrated outside the NCW office, where he had been called. His remarks were seen to be “unacceptable” by leaders from both the BJP and the Congress as well.
He expressed his casteist views. Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, told the news agency ANI that neither Gujarat nor India would tolerate this.
