The Telangana Police have found the dead body of the prime suspect in the rape of a six-year-old tribal girl committed on September 9. The body was found on the railway tracks close to Pamunuru village in Telangana’s Warangal district.

In the Saidabad rape case, where a minor was raped and murdered ,the main suspect was identified as Pallakonda Raju. While launching a massive search for him, Telangana Police had recently announced a reward of Rs 10 lakhs for information leading to his arrest.

However, the police said that the man allegedly committed suicide after being chased by the police. The spot where his body has been found is about 120 km from the state capital Hyderabad.

His face was completely disfigured and his body lay between two rails of the railway track near Rajaram bridge. The body was identified with the help of the tattooed letters spelling Mounika, which is Raju’s wife’s name, on his left forearm, and also his long hair.

Police said he ended his life by jumping in front of a train. The police had launched a manhunt for him in Telangana and neighbouring states. As he was the prime suspect in the rape and murder of a six-year-old child on September 9.

Raju’s wife Mounika alleged that he was killed by the police in cold blood and his body was thrown across the railway tracks to make it look like suicide. “I am positive that it was the police who killed my husband. They also detained us and took our signatures on white papers. When we asked them the reason, they did not give any proper reply,” Mounika said.

After the “Disha” case where a victim was raped and burnt to death some years ago, this Saidabad rape was recently the most talked-about crime, when a minor was raped and brutally murdered.
