In Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, on Monday morning, a bus reportedly crashed into a canyon, killing at least 16 people. It is thought that among the deceased are a number of schoolchildren. According to accounts, the bus was carrying more than 40 passengers and was headed for Sainj.
According to Kullu deputy commissioner Ashutosh Garg, the bus plunged into the gorge close to Jangla hamlet at around 8.30 am.
“Rescue underway, the incident happened around 8 am. School kids are also believed to be travelling on the bus. More details awaited,” DC Kullu Ashutosh Garg said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The injured have been shifted to local hospitals while teams from Kullu moved to the accident spot.
